What it is

Five cards for a friendship. Most tarot spreads are built for romance, but the relationships that wear people down for years are often friendships.

Thereโ€™s a structural reason theyโ€™re hard: there is no procedure for starting or ending one. So when it goes awkward, it stays unresolved for years.

You first

Position 1 is you, position 2 is them. That order matters, because when a friendship cools we start with the other person โ€” why havenโ€™t they messaged, why did they say that.

Reading your own position first shows what you have been doing in this friendship: only waiting to be contacted, only bringing hard news, or treating someone by who they were years ago.

Find where it caught

Position 4 carries the spread. Friendships usually cool at one specific point โ€” not a fight, but a moment when one of you was hurt and said nothing.

Without that point the whole relationship becomes vaguely uncomfortable, and vague discomfort canโ€™t be acted on. Name one thing and there is suddenly something to do.

All three conclusions are fine

Position 5 asks whether to hold it, rest it, or let it go. All three are legitimate.

Resting matters most here. Friendships donโ€™t have to be ended. Plenty go quiet for years and resume. A bad fit right now is not a reason to close it.

For family, use the family knot; if what you want is the other personโ€™s state of mind, there is their feelings.
